CCL Palouse is committed to working for a livable world in every sense
of that phrase. That includes not only a healthy climate but a world where everyone
can live in freedom and safety. As CCL Executive Director Mark Reynolds said this week,
“The bigotry on display by white nationalists in Charlottesville has no place in the
livable world we’re moving toward.” Our work toward climate stability and justice is
indivisible from our commitment to and work toward social justice.
To that end, CCL has signed onto a joint statement with more than 100 other environmental and conservation organizations. As it says, “No one who stands for justice, equality, and human dignity can stay silent any longer. We will stand unified against the white nationalist movement that everyday threatens America’s people and ideals, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. We will ultimately prevail by countering this hate with love.”

The purpose of the Palouse Region Chapter of CCL, also known
as CCL-Palouse, is to work to pass effective
climate/energy legislation through Congress. See About Us.
Citizens' Climate Lobby advocates for revenue-neutral carbon fee and dividend legislation. We propose that a gradually rising fee be placed on fossil fuels, at the point of extraction, based on the carbon dioxide (CO2) content of those fuels, at the first point of sale. Proceeds from that fee will be returned equally to the American people as monthly payments (the "dividend") to protect households from the rising costs of fossil fuels. The proposal is revenue-neutral because no money from the fee goes into the treasury. As the price of fossil fuels begins to reflect their true costs, our economy will transition to low carbon energy sources, which are good for our economy, American jobs, and the climate.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a rapidly growing, non-partisan, non-profit, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policy to address global warming. We train and support volunteers to reclaim their democracy and engage elected officials and the media to generate the political will for solutions that will stabilize the Earth’s climate.
